DBTA Names IRI Workbench a 2015 Trend Setting Product
Eclipse IDE Selected for Familiar Job Design and Data Management Facilities
Melbourne, Fla. (January 6, 2015) – Database Trends and Applications (DBTA) magazine has included the IRI Workbench -- the free, graphical integrated development environment (IDE) for all data management and protection software available from IRI, The CoSort Company -- in its latest annual list of trend-setting products in data and information management.
The list was compiled from work performed by Unisphere Research Group, DBTA’s market research arm to identify products that are unique, influence the marketplace, and are important to the data and information management field. The Trend-Setting Products of 2015 were highlighted in the December print edition of DBTA magazine and on the website DBTA.com.
“More than ever, the spotlight is on data and IT management teams to help their organizations gain maximum value from their data while also mitigating risk,” remarked Tom Hogan, Publisher of Database Trends and Applications. “Fortunately, leading vendors like IRI are developing products and services to do just that. The IRI Workbench really stands out as a unique innovation and is a significant and deserving addition to our 2015 Trend-Setting Products list.”
The IRI Workbench is the Windows (and Linux) job design, launching, and management client for all IRI products, including: CoSort for big data manipulation, FACT for VLDB unloads, NextForm for data and database migration, FieldShield for data masking, and RowGen for synthetic test data generation. According to IRI documentation manager Sharon Hewitt, the Workbench “leverages what Eclipse does best -- application development support -- for the benefit of IRI jobs. This means data source connectors, syntax-aware editors tied to wizards and dialogs, and beneficial collaboration with plug-ins like BIRT, EasyShell, and StatET for R.
“Most recently, IRI has been adding the kinds of visual data discovery and workflow management that data and ETL architects expect in Workbench. These newer features, along with graphical data quality and master data management facilities -- plus support for auto-converted third-party ETL jobs and multiple Hadoop engine deployments -- will be offered with IRI’s upcoming “Voracity” platform for total data management,” she remarked.
IRI Marketing Director Jason Koivu remarked that IRI is “honored that our state-of-the-art, freely available GUI is recognized as industry-leading,” and added that IRI “will continue to offer the capabilities and ergonomics that will keep our users at the forefront of digital business.”
